This project was another phase of the US-52 major corridor improvement plan. This portion of the project extended from US-2 south of Foxholm to ND-5 north of Kenmare. There were 10 separate passing lane improvements added along this stretch alone. The highway runs through several small communities in this area, which impacts traffic flow. One of the most unique challenges of this project involved the extension of 11 existing box culverts due to the many streams and channels running through the rolling terrain. We were fortunate to have one of our long-term partners, Industrial Builders, performing the box culvert work, which began early in the winter months to keep the project on schedule.

Grading work for this project was fully completed by a local contractor, Farden Construction, with multiple crews and plenty of resources ensuring the project ran smoothly. Aggregates for this project were crushed in multiple pit locations creating scheduling and production challenges relating to the materials. This was handled through our DBE Subcontractor, Kilichowski Trucking & Construction. With multiple change orders and delays caused by design/construction challenges, we were able to complete the project within the required time constraints.
